SNOOP DOGG's SON ABANDONS PROMISING FOOTBALL CAREER AFTER FAILING TO SHOW UP FOR TRAINING

Snoop Dogg's son has brought his promising football career to a premature end after deciding not to show up for training camp.

Cordell Broadus, 18, was a highly-tipped receiver for the future after being pushed to the top in sport by his musician father.

He committed to the UCLA Bruins and was set to join the roster as a freshman, but wasn't on the field as they began their fall preparations in San Bernardino, California.

UCLA Head Football Coach Jim Mora said Broadus contacted him and said he wanted to pursue a career in film instead.

He said in a statement posted on the team's website: 'Cordell informed me yesterday that he has decided to pursue other passions in his life - in particular his love of film through his company Film School Productions.

'Cordell is an amazing young man with many talents, and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his degree at UCLA.'

According to Tracy Pierson of the Bruin Report, he is still enrolled in the school and his decision to move away from the sports field will not impact his studies.

Broadus and Snoop Dogg starred in a documentary miniseries on ESPN titled Snoop & Son, which chronicled his recruitment process.
