KENDRICK LAMAR WRITES LETTER TO TUPAC SHAKUR ON THE 19TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH

Tupac Shakur was killed in Las Vegas 19 years ago today. On the anniversary of his death, one of his disciples, Kendrick Lamar, has shared some heartfelt words about the late rap legend.

In the letter, which was posted on 2Pac’s official website, the Compton rapper reflects on the first time he saw his idol on set of the “California Love (Remix)” video, which was shot at the Compton Swap Meet near his home.

“I couldn’t describe how I felt at that moment,” writes K-Dot. “So many different emotions. Full of excitement. Full of joy and eagerness. 20 yrs later I understand exactly what that feeling was.”

He praises ‘Pac for being such an inspiration. “The people that you touched on that small intersection changed lives forever. I told myself I wanted to be a voice for man one day. Whoever knew I was speaking out loud for u to listen. Thank you.”

Kendrick came full circle earlier this year when he shot the “King Kunta” video on top of that same building where he first saw his idol. He even pretends to interview Tupac on his latest album To Pimp a Butterfly.
