FANS EXPRESS FEAR OVER SAFETY OF NOLLYWOOD ACTORS IN MECCA FOLLOWING STAMPEDE

Following the stampede in the holy land of Meccah where Muslim faithfuls across the world are performing Hajj rites, Nigerians have expressed concerns over the safety of top Nollywood actors who are also participating in the pilgrimage.

Actors like Femi Adebayo, Fathia Balogun, Dayo Amusa and Moji Olaiya are currently in the holy city.

Over 700 people have been confirmed dead in the stampede which was caused as a result of overcrowding while the pilgrims performed the ‘stoning of the devil’ rites.

About 8 Nigerians have also been confirmed dead in the stampede some of who include Tijani El-Miskin, Northern Nigeria’s first female editor, Tijani El-Miskin who is a professor at the University of Maiduguri and some others who are yet to be identified.

Multiple reports also reveal that immediate past chairman of the PDP, Adamu Muazu, escaped death in whiskers in the accident which has left over 800 injured.
