Asides ushering in the ember period which means entertainment activities will enter top gear, this month will witness the eventual release of long-anticipated albums from some of the biggest Nigerian acts right now.
Orezi: After entertaining us with hits like Shoki, Rihanna and Shuperu, Sprisal Entertainment act, Orezi is finally ready with his debut album ‘Ghen Ghen’. He’s been worthy of a major break for some time now. Pundits say the turn around may eventually happen with the release, today, of his LP.
The album will feature MI Abaga, Flavour and others.
Brymo: Olawale Ashimi returns with his fifth album and first international offering, Trance which will be distributed in the US by TMG. With his career already slowing down, following a dispute with former label Chocolate City Music, and a legal tussle that did little to push his music, Trance should bring back attention to the music. This father-of-1 is one of the best singers to ever grab the mic. The kind of singer critics will give five stars before even listening to the body of work.
Jesse Jagz: Jesse Jagz says we should expect his 5th album in September. This is the rapper’s first album since returning to Choc City which is now headed by his elder brother, M.I Abaga. The rapper’s recent announcement that the new album entitled ‘Return of the Gods’ drops in September has thrown his fans into an excited mood. Can he really stage a comeback?
Davido: Davido’s sophomore album is no doubt the most anticipated record of 2015. After 2 previous postponements, the HKN lead act says the album (named ‘Baddest’) is now due in September. Appearances will be from Meek Mill, Future and others. No, there’s no Wizkid collabo.
Iyanya: His career appears to have stagnated. But the pioneer Project Fame winner is working to build up and return to the top of the league. Will his 3rd album, due later this month, do the magic?
Wizkid: If he doesn’t announce another postponement, then the itinerant pop star will FINALLY bless us with his third album in September. It will be his first post-EME album, and his firs ton his self-owned label Star Boy.
The new album is expected to be one of the biggest projects by a contemporary Nigerian artiste: Collaborations with Chris Brown, Angelique Kidjo, Drake and many others, possible multi-continent release, and pundits say week one sales could shatter records.
Samklef: Nigerian singer and music producer, Samklef will also be dropping his 3rd studio album in September. Titled ‘Sound of Music’, the album features an array of Nigerian acts including Olamide, Falz, Vector, Mr 2kay, Dj Xclusive and many others....
